Board Of Directors
John P.A. Budreski
Executive Chairman | MBA | B.Eng.John P. A. Budreski joins EnWave with over 30 years of extensive capital markets and executive management experience. Mr. Budreski has a professional history of advancing and accelerating businesses, as well as tangible engineering experience.
He was formerly a Vice Chairman of Cormark Securities Inc. from 2009 to 2012 and President and CEO of Orion Securities Inc. from 2005 to 2007, prior to its successful sale to Macquarie Bank. He has filled the roles of a Managing Director of Equity Capital Markets and Head of Investment Banking for Scotia Capital Inc. from March 1998 to February 2005 after starting out as a Managing Director of US Institutional Equity Group for Scotia Capital. He also held senior roles in investment banking and equity sales and trading for RBC Dominion Securities.
Mr. Budreski is currently a Director of Sandstorm Gold Ltd., Alaris Royalty Corporation and Input Capital. He is also the Chief Executive Officer and a Director of Morien Resources Corporation.
Brent Charleton
President & CEO | CFABrent Charleton has extensive experience working in competitive team-based environments in the public, private and not-for-profit industries. He has managed the marketing, investor relations and corporate affairs mandates for EnWave Corporation since 2010.
Brent, an ex-professional athlete, is a graduate of the Marketing Management program at the British Columbia Institute of Technology and has earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Criminology and Communications from Simon Fraser University.
Brent Charleton has completed the Canadian Securities Course and is a holder of the right to use the Chartered Financial Analyst® designation.
Dr. Stewart Ritchie
Director | Ph.D | BSc (Agr) | MS | DVM | Diplomate ACPVDr. Stewart Ritchie is the President of Canadian Poultry Consultants and S.J. Ritchie Research Farms.
He developed and has been participating in the Platinum Brooding® program since inception. The Platinum Brooding® program is an educational session used by poultry producers to promote poultry health and is now part of the curriculum at the University of Georgia, Master of Avian Medicine program and the Aviagen International Broiler Production School in Alabama. The Platinum Brooding® program is now part of the New Producer Entrant program of the British Columbia Broiler Chicken Marketing Board.
He has now completed his term as President of the American Association of Avian Pathologists (AAAP).
Stew was the founder of the Western Meeting of Poultry Clinicians and Pathologists in 1990 and is a member and has participated in numerous poultry production and scientific sessions throughout the globe.
Hugh McKinnon
DirectorHugh McKinnon is a Director and shareholder of Norscot Investments Ltd., a privately held company with extensive interests in media and residential/commercial developments in Washington State, British Columbia and Alberta.
Mr. McKinnon has an extensive background in broadcasting communications, having served as President and CEO of Okanagan Skeena Ltd., Nornet Broadcasting Ltd., and Central Island Radio. He was also a Director (since 1999) and former Chairman of the Board (from 2000-2005) of Rainmaker Income Fund and Chairman (2004- 2007) of The Beat Broadcasting Ltd. in Vancouver, British Columbia.
He is currently a director (since January 2007) of Premium Brands Holding. Mr. McKinnon is also currently a director of Castanet.net, a privately held internet media company based in Kelowna, British Columbia. Mr. McKinnon is currently a director of the Vancouver Canucks Sports Celebrity Dinner that raises money for Canuck Place for kids and the Special Olympics. He was previously a director of the British Columbia Association of Broadcasters, and a director of Canadian Women in Communications.
Mary C. Ritchie
Director | Chair of Audit Committee | FCAMary C. Ritchie is an extremely distinguished business person who has over 30 years of experience working in both the public, private and not-for-profit sectors.
Ms. Ritchie is currently the President and Chief Executive Officer of Richford Holdings Ltd., an accounting and investment advisory services company; a member of the Canadian Institute of Chartered Accountants, and a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Alberta; the Chairman of the Financial Advisory Committees of RBC Funds Inc. and RBC Advisor Global Fund Inc; and a member of the Board of Directors of Industrial Alliance Ltd. and Alaris Royalty Corporation.
She also is on the three-member advisory committee for Natural Resources Canada; a member of the Board of Directors for the Canada Development Investment Corporation (CDIC); and on the three-member advisory committee for the Privy Council of Canada.

Dan Henriques
Chief Financial Officer | CPA CA | B.Sc HonoursDan Henriques is a Chartered Professional Accountant and brings extensive experience in finance effectiveness and financial reporting to his role at EnWave.
Prior to joining EnWave, Dan Henriques was a manager in the Assurance group at PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP (“PwC”), and supported numerous mid-market companies, including companies listed on the Toronto Stock Exchange, TSX Venture Exchange and the New York Stock Exchange, with financial reporting and compliance. While at PwC, Mr. Henriques provided clients in the manufacturing and technology sectors professional services in the areas of financial audits, financial reporting and tax.
Dan Henriques earned his Bachelors of Science with an Honours Distinction and his Diploma of Accounting at the University of British Columbia.
Dr. John Zhang
Chief Scientific Officer | Ph.D Food Nutrition & HealthDr. Zhang is a seasoned R&D professional and well respected academic. His educational qualifications include a Bachelor of Engineering Degree in Seafood Processing from Ocean University of China, a Master’s Degree in Food Microbiology from the University of Manitoba and a PhD in Food Nutrition and Health (FNH) from the University of British Columbia.
An accomplished academic, he has co-authored more than 10 research papers and 2 patents.
Prior to joining EnWave, Dr.Zhang worked in R&D and technical sales roles in the natural anti-microbial enzyme applications sector for more than 10 years. His expertise includes microbiology testing methods, shelf life/challenge studies, anti-microbial efficacy and interaction evaluation.
Dr. Zhang co-developed the microencapsulation method for enzymes using the REV™ technology with Dr. Durance during his PhD study.
Dr. Richard Mitchell
SVP Pharmaceutical Business Development | BA Biology | Ph.D Microbiology | Post-Doctoral Molecular OncologyDr. Richard Mitchell is a seasoned pharmaceutical industry professional with over three decades of experience in various management and business development roles.
He was formerly the Director of Business Development at Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center after holding strategic positions in many well-known pharmaceutical and technology companies, including Nastech Pharmaceutical, Adnavance Technologies and Shoreline Community College, MDS Pharma Services, among others.
Dr. Mitchell brings a scientific background paired with a strong business acumen to forge successful relationships within the biotech arena. Dr. Mitchell holds a BA in Biology, a Ph.D. in Microbiology and a Post-Doctoral in Molecular Oncology.
Leon Fu
SVP, Manufacturing & Chief Engineer | B.Eng. ElectronicsLeon Fu has worked with EnWave since 2000 and has been the driving force behind a number of significant design innovations on every one of the REV™ platforms.
Leon Fu is a co-author of several patents held jointly with EnWave’s founder, Dr. Tim Durance.
Leon Fu holds a B.Eng. Electronics from Petroleum University in Dong Ying, China. He has led EnWave’s engineering group along with Dr. Durance, since joining the Company.
Dr. Reihaneh Noorbakhsh
VP of Research & Development, Biomaterials | Ph.D Food ScienceDr. Noorbakhsh’s professional experience includes microbiology and analytical testing methods, molecular and cell biology techniques, standardization, and different management systems based on ISO standards.
She is the author of 20 scientific publications, two book chapters and 18 scientific presentations.
For more than thirteen years, Reihaneh served the Iranian Institute of Standard and Industrial Research (ISIRI) as the Director of Research and Training Department, Manager of Reference Laboratories for Food Additives and Adulteration, Director of Certification System for National Laboratory Accreditation based on ISO/IEC 17025, and as a food industry inspector.

Our history
EnWave’s technology dates back to 1996 with the development of the first prototype REV™ machine at the University of British Columbia for dehydrating food and nutraceuticals. Since that time, the company has developed, produced and sold at commercial-scale.
1996 | Innovation emerges at the University of British Columbia and several patents are filed.
1999 | EnWave Corporation is listed on the TSX Venture Exchange and capital infusion accelerates technological advances.
2009 | First machine sold to a Canadian blueberry processor.
2012 | Patent acquisition from the University of British Columbia.
2013 | NutraDried established to commercialize Moon Cheese snack product.
2015 | Commercial inflection point; REV™ technology gains momentum.
