One of the founders of EnWave, Dr. Durance has 30+ years’ experience in the processed food industry and is the co-inventor of the Company's Radiant Energy Vacuum (REV™) technology. As EnWave’s Chairman & Co-CEO, his responsibilities include research and development related to all of the REV™ technologies, as well as ongoing intellectual property development. Until recently, Dr. Durance was a Professor in the Food, Nutrition and Health Program at the University of British Columbia (UBC), where he has been a member of the faculty since 1987. Dr. Durance is the author of more than 75 peer-reviewed scientific publications, 16 patents, and numerous book chapters, scientific presentations, and invited lectures on technology and food processing. Dr. Durance received his Ph.D and M.Sc. in Food Science from UBC, as well as a B.Sc. in Microbiology from the University of Guelph and a B.A. in Anthropology from the University of Waterloo.

Mr. McNicol is a senior executive with a proven track record of building high-growth companies from start-up through to rapid sales growth. Prior to joining EnWave, Mr. McNicol was President and COO of Concert Industries Ltd., a global supplier of ultra-thin absorbent materials for the personal hygiene market. Under his leadership, the company's annual sales increased from $12.8 million to $110 million, EBITDA from $2 million to $20 million and the company's market capitalization from $15 million to $300 million. Mr. McNicol also served as President and COO of Merfin International Inc., spearheading consolidated sales growth from $3.5 million to $100 million in eight years. Throughout his career, he has worked in corporate finance, the brokerage industry, and the accounting profession. With a track record of financing start-ups, and building revenues, management teams and business partnerships, he has earned a solid reputation for his execution focused management style.

Mr. Anand is the President of Eastern Traders Ltd., a private business wholesale import/export company specializing in equipment for the institutional and retail markets. He brings considerable sales and marketing experience to the company, primarily in the Asia-Pacific region. Mr. Anand joined the EnWave Board of Directors in July 2002, and has been actively involved in marketing EnWave's technology since 2001.

Mr. Miranda became involved with EnWave in 2000, joining the Board of Directors in February 2003 and becoming CFO in November 2003. Salvador is also the President of InterAmerica Consulting & Development Inc., a private business consulting company. He has served as a Director and/or Officer for a variety of other TSX Venture companies. An engineer by training, Salvador holds a master's degree in Project Management from MIT.

Mr. Charleton has extensive experience working in competitive team-based environments and has effectively managed the execution of marketing and corporate affairs mandates for EnWave Corporation since 2010. Prior to joining EnWave, Brent graduated as the top scholar in the Marketing Management program at the British Columbia Institute of Technology, played four years of professional basketball in Australiasia, and earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Criminology and Communications from Simon Fraser University. Mr.Charleton is also the VP of the BCIT Alumni Association and currently volunteers as an Executive Committee Member with the Vancouver Board of Trade's Company of Young Professionals Program.

Dr. Sandberg is a former long-time employee of Lipton, a division of Unilever Canada Inc. and holds a Ph.D. in Food Science from the University of British Columbia. He is the Program Head of Food Technology, School of Health Sciences, at the British Columbia Institute of Technology.

 

Mr. J. Hugh Wiebe Director

Mr. Wiebe was an early pioneer in the development of enzymes for a variety of food applications, and has developed international operations and customer relationships for these products in Europe, Japan and North America. He also has extensive experience with both spray drying and freeze drying technologies as they are used to preserve food and biomaterials. Mr. Wiebe was formerly the Chairman of the Board of Brookside Foods Ltd. before being bought out by Hershey, and is currently the President and CEO of Bioplex Nutrition Inc., and serves as a Board member for a number of companies operating in the biomaterials sector, including Bioseutica PLC.

 

Dr. Parastoo Yaghmaee Senior Scientist

Dr. Zhang is a seasoned R&D professional and well respected academic. His educational qualifications include a Bachelor of Engineering Degree in Seafood Processing from Ocean University of China, a Master’s Degree in Food Microbiology from the University of Manitoba and a PhD in Food Nutrition and Health (FNH) from the University of British Columbia. An accomplished academic, he has co-authored more than 10 research papers and 2 patents. Prior to joining EnWave, Dr.Zhang worked in R&D and technical sales roles in the natural anti-microbial enzyme applications sector for more than 10 years. His expertise includes microbiology testing methods, shelf life/challenge studies, anti-microbial efficacy and interaction evaluation. Dr. Zhang co-developed the microencapsulation method for enzymes using the REV™ technology with Dr. Durance during his PhD study.

Mr. Fu has worked with EnWave since 2000 and has been the driving force behind a number of significant design innovations on every one of the REV™ platforms. Mr. Fu is a co-author of several patents held jointly with EnWave’s founder, Dr. Tim Durance. He holds a B.Eng. Electronics from Petroleum University in Dong Ying, China.
